I grew up with my grandmother telling me stories about her father. He was a physician and surgeon in the early 1900's. She told many stories about healing with herbs. One story in particular has always stayed with me. My dad (her son) was an animal lover and he was always bringing an animal home for her to heal. One day he brought in a little dog, I think her name was Mitzie. The poor dog had a badly injured leg, the wound was gaping open and very deep. Grandma told Dad that she didn't know if she could help the poor dog but she would try. So, she made a poultice and changed the dressing 4 times a day. That went on for a couple of weeks and healed so well that the dog lived a good life and only had a slight limp as a result of the injury.
When I became a Registered Nurse, Grandma's stories stuck with me. I always had them in the back of my mind. That drove me to explore Holistic Healing in various forms. I took various herb and aromatherapy courses as well as Healing Touch (a form of hands on healing) and other course as you will see in this website.
A number of years ago I discovered Doc Jones and his Home Grown School of Botanical Medicine. That is by far the best program of courses I have ever taken. It is detailed with Doc's real world experiences as a Naturopath and Veterinarian. It's an in depth study of the properties practical uses of the plants for health and healing. He has a real gift for teaching and a great sense of humor. I love his courses. Once you sign up for the course you work at your own pace and have access to the site and information for life.
I absolutely recommend this course if you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a Clinical Herbalist. Just click on the icon and it will take you to his website for more information.
